Gigs or Gogs

Both our bricks and mortar shops and online store are filled with the best bikes, products, kit, and accessories currently available on the market. We only stock products that we fully endorse and ultimately use in the wild ourselves – this means whatever you see on our physical or digital shelves has been tactfully handpicked by the Stif Staff beforehand.

The great debate. Gigs or gogs, specs or straps, goggles or glasses. Some prefer goggles some prefer glasses and some bounce between. Goggles work seemingly with full face helmets, whilst glasses work best with half faces. But that doesn’t mean you can't switch it up.

A goggle and half face combo is a firm favourite for enduro riders out there. Great covering, firmly planted on your face and a fab field of vision. However, glasses have been fighting back, no longer nerdy, no longer reserved for the XC demons. Glasses have grown, with larger lenses, a greater field of vision and staying as sturdy as a sturdy thing does on your face.

It’s still all down to personal preference, some prefer gogs and some prefer gigs.

Let’s start with goggles, the Smith Squad, a Stif staff favourite. There are plenty of vents to avoid fogging and an XL size option for those with a larger face. With plenty of colours, and lens options you can be prepared for all weather. The Smith goggles fit seamlessly with Smith helmets, both half face and full face.

The Sweet Protection Firewall's are a robust and retro-looking design with a huge range of fields. Again these goggles fit seamlessly with Sweet Protection helmets - full face and half face. The sleek and simple design is packed with features. A TPU frame, a pre-curved lens and triple layer foam make a super comfy all day goggle.

Whether you think they’re dorky or not, glasses work. They keep the mud out of your eyes and the sun shimmer at bay.

The Melon Alleycats have grown massively in popularity over the past few years, maybe due to the friendly price tag or the range of colourways and customization. Whatever it is they’re a stylish option and a firm favourite in the MTB world. With Carl Zeiss lenses and Italian made, you know these glasses will do the job.

The Smith Wildcats are another go-to for mountain bikers, with some loud colourways and great coverage on your face. The Wildcats have been inspired by the Squad goggles, so you know these will keep the crud off your money maker. Designed to fit seamlessly with a wide range of helmets.

Last but not least the Sweet Protection Ronin Max Glasses with RIG lenses. A semi-frameless design keeps them lightweight and provides an unrivalled field of vision with superior optical properties. You guessed it, they fit seamlessly with a huge range of helmets. RIG lens technology provides superior contrast, minimum colour distortion and reduced eye fatigue.

A Stif staff favourite these glasses look stylish and do the job perfectly. From enduro racing to gravel grinds these glasses fit like a glove.

Whether you choose glasses or goggles, eyewear protection is a must to keep mud, crud and other nasty substances out of your eyes. Goggles and Half face or Glasses and Full face, whatever option you go for, you do you!
